Colorado College

School Overview

Colorado College is distinctive for its modular “Block Plan” calendar. The academic year is divided into eight 3-1/2 week blocks and department faculty teach five courses per year plus supervision of senior thesis students.

During each block, students take and faculty teach one course at a time, with a maximum enrollment of 25 students per class. The college’s unique academic calendar supports experiential learning opportunities such as field trips and service learning, and lends itself to other innovative teaching and learning pedagogies. Student assistance is available to support teaching and research, and the college generously funds faculty scholarship and conference attendance. The department also supports business education with programmatic funding for executives-in-residence, visiting instructors, lecturers, field trips, and other activities that keep business at the forefront. In addition, funding is available at the department, divisional, and college levels to support summer research, and several endowed chairs provide course release for deserving faculty.

The college is located in the heart of Colorado Springs, a beautiful, dynamic city located at the foot of Pikes Peak. The city and surrounding region offer excellent schools, a diversified economy, unparalleled recreational opportunities, and an outstanding climate. The headquarters of the Center for Creative Leadership is located in Colorado Springs.
