School Profile
FGV EBAPE
School Overview
Founded in 1944, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) is a world-renowned center for high-quality education and research in Brazil. It hosts 8 schools and 2 research institutes. The Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) was established in 1952 in Rio de Janeiro, through a partnership between the United Nations (UN) and the FGV, in order to respond to demands for qualified professionals in this field.
In 2002, it was renamed the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), reflecting its activities in the private sector that had in fact been in place since it was founded. During these decades, it has firmed up its credibility and legitimacy through its astounding ability to provide top-tier knowledge to its students, ushering them into a production process ranked as excellent.
• International Mobility Program: with a view to preparing its students for greater international exposure, FGV EBAPE has set up partnerships with leading universities in several countries, thus offering exchange opportunities to its students, as well as the opportunity to meet and interact with visiting exchange students from all over the world.
• Courses Taught in English: The School offers MSc and PhD in Administration programs taught entirely in English, as well as a portfolio of Master’s courses for exchange students through its International Program in Business (IPB). FGV EBAPE is also working towards gradually increasing the number of undergraduate courses taught in English.
• Research Exchange: FGV/EBAPE is also heading up projects with a view to attracting Higher Education Institutions from outside Brazil to conduct research and publish papers, thus encouraging the formation of a network of researchers focused on the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge.
• Accreditation: in 2014, FGV/EBAPE was awarded EQUIS international accreditation under the European Quality Improvement System, which is one of the most important certifications in the academic world. Granted only to institutions that comply with stringent international teaching and research quality standards by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), which is an international business school assessment body, this accreditation reflects widespread international acknowledgement of the quality of the School. In Brazil, only four other institutions have been awarded this EQUIS-EFMD seal, which is only granted to universities, colleges and schools with proven high internationalization levels.
In addition to maintaining its EQUIS and ICAPA accreditations, the School is also working towards accreditation by the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA).
